1. UCF Knights(+210 odds to win AAC) – The UCF Knights are 25-1 overall the last two seasons and have shown they can play with the big boys by going 1-1 against the SEC in bowl games. They almost beat LSU in the Fiesta Bowl last season to have back-to-back 13-0 seasons. Head coach Josh Heupel has 13 starters returning this season and the Knights should once again be a force. The Knights have Notre Dame transfer, senior Brandon Wimbush, looking to replace an injured Mckenzie Milton at quarterback this season. He will have a lot of help including the return of junior running back, Greg McCrae, who rushed for 1182 yards with a 8.9 ypc and 10 touchdowns last season. Junior wideout Gabriel Davis(53 receptions, 815 yards, 10 touchdowns in 2018) leads a talented receiving corps. Look for UCF to come close to last season’s whopping 43.2 ppg average offensively despite the loss of Milton. On defense, UCF allowed 22.7 ppg last season. They welcome back 5 starters including three projected 1st team all AAC defenders in safety Richie Grant, defensive lineman Brendon Hayes and linebacker Nate Evans. 1. Memphis Tigers(+280 odds to win AAC) – Head coach Mike Norvell enters his 4th season at the helm in Memphis and is a respectable 26-14 including 8-6 last season. However, the faithful Tigers fans and alumni are still looking to take the next step and win the AAC Championship. Norvell welcomes back 14 starters this season and should be Norvell’s most talented team in his tenure so far. Junior quarterback Brady White is back to lead the offense after passing for 3296 yards and 26 touchdowns last season. White along with senior running back, Patrick Taylor Jr(1122 rushing yards, 16 touchdowns) give the Tigers arguably the best 1-2 punch in the league. However, as potent and explosive as the offense should be, the defense is a different story. The Tigers defense was terrible last season finishing 89th in the nation in total defense. New defensive coordinator Adam Fuller will attempt to get this unit respectable and give the offense some much needed help. Fuller will have 7 starters back and he will need them to get better against giving up big plays.
