The 2nd ranked Georgia Bulldogs come into this week with a 3-0 overall record after crushing Middle Tennessee State 49-7 last Saturday to cover the -34.5 point spread. The Bulldogs are now 2-1 against the spread this season and have played UNDER in two of their three games. Georgia has outscored it’s first three opponents by a margin of 135-24.

Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart is building a long standing power in the SEC that just keeps getting better and better. The recruiting has been off the charts since Smart arrived in Athens 3 years ago and it is showing on the field. Georgia had the 6th ranked total defense in the nation last season allowing just 294.9 yards per game and they are even better so far this season as they are giving up just 258.7 yards per game. Offensively, the Bulldogs are averaging over 50 more yards per game then last season as they come in putting up 488.3 yards of offense per game.

Georgia sophomore quarterback Jake Fromm is settling in nicely in his 2nd season so far and has improved nicely. Fromm has completed 367 of his 46 passes for an 80.4 completion mark and has tossed 6 touchdowns against just 1 interception so far. Junior wide out Mecole Hardman has been his top target and has caught 12 balls for 187 yards and 3 touchdowns. The ground game has been very impressive led by junior running back Elijah Holyfield who has rushed for 200 yards on just 22 carries for 2 touchdowns.

The Missouri Tigers also come into this SEC showdown with a 3-0 overall record and 2-1 against the spread. The Tigers are coming off of a 40-37 overtime win at Purdue where they failed to cover the -5 point spread. Missouri has outscored it’s first three opponents 131 to 64.

The Tigers take a big leap in competition this week when they host the 2nd ranked Bulldogs. The Tigers have 15 starters back from last year’s 7-6 team that finished 6-1 down the stretch and is now 3-0 so far this season. However, the Tigers did play Georgia last season on October 14th in Athens and got crushed 53-28.

The strength of the Missouri team is clearly it’s offense and it’s averaging a whopping 589 yards of total offense per game. The Tigers finished 1st in the SEC and 8th nationally in total offense last season and have clearly picked up where they left off. However, defense is another story. The Tigers finished 83rd in the nation and 11th in the SEC in total defense last season and are not much better this season as they are allowing 379.7 yards per game.

We look for this game to maybe stay close for the first half but Georgia should and will pull away as the game continues on. The depth and overall talent of the Georgia team is another level then Missouri and we don’t see Missouri’s defense being able to get enough stops to keep this game from getting out of hand.
