The Alabama Crimson Tide comes into this week with an unblemished 8-0 overall record and are 5-3 against the spread. The Crimson Tide last played on October 20th when they went to Tennessee and steamrolled the Volunteers 58-21.

The Crimson Tide have been by far the most dominant team in the nation so far this season but also haven’t played anyone that good. Alabama’s toughest opponent so far was a solid but far from great Texas A&M team that they handled 45-23 on September 22nd in Tuscaloosa. Alabama is 5-0 in the SEC West but finish with their three toughest SEC opponents on their regular season schedule with games at LSU, home versus Miss State next week and the Iron Bowl game at home versus Auburn on November 24th.

Alabama has been flat out dominant on both sides of the ball this season. The Tide offense is putting up 564.3 yards per game and 8.3 yards per play. The defense is shutting down opponents by allowing just 309.3 yards per game and 4.7 yards per play.

The LSU Tigers come into this week with a 7-1 overall record and they too are 5-3 against the spread. The Tigers also has last week off and last played on October 20th when they beat Mississippi State at home 19-3.

The Tigers have been one of the biggest surprises in the nation so far this season. They were expected to be good but nobody figured they would be good enough to challenge for the SEC Title and a spot in the College Football Playoff. The Tigers have arguably faced the toughest schedule in the nation this season and have beaten Georgia 36-16 at home, Auburn on the road 22-21 and dispatched of Miami-Fl 33-17 in Dallas, Texas at AT&T Stadium. The Tigers lone loss was a 27-19 defeat at Florida on October 6th.

LSU has been solid on offense but far from elite. The Tigers average 383.6 yards per game and 5.4 yards per play offensively. The Tigers defense has been very good as they are allowing just 330.3 yards per game and 4.8 yards per play against a very tough schedule.

Alabama has owned this series as they have won the last 7 meetings including a 24-10 win at home last season. However, LSU has kept the last 4 meetings within 2 touchdowns and have avoided getting thoroughly embarrassed by Alabama like many other SEC schools have in the Nick Saban era. LSU is at home and are much improved this season and are battle tested. We look for them to be the first opponent to finally give Alabama a game this season and keep it respectable. Take the points.
