2017 Week 6 College Football Picks – #13 Miami-FL @ Florida State Odds & Free Pick 10/7/17

The Miami-FL Hurricanes come into this matchup 3-0 overall and 2-1 against the spread. The Hurricanes are ranked 13th in the nation in this week’s AP Poll and they are coming off of a 31-6 win at Duke as a -5 point favorite on September 29th.

Miami-Fl Hurricanes head coach Mark Richt has this proud program headed back towards national prominence in just his 2nd year on the job in Coral Gables. Richt had a solid 9-4 rookie season as the Hurricanes head man and he looks to get the Hurricanes in double digits in wins as well as in the ACC Championship Game by winning the ACC Coastal Division this season. They along with Virginia Tech appear to be the two favorites to win the ACC Coastal Division this season.

The Hurricanes have been strong on both sides of the ball so far thru three games. The Canes offense is ranked 17th in the country in scoring at 41.3 points per game and has the nation’s 38th rated passing attack averaging 270 passing yards per game. The defense has also been superb as they are ranked 18th in the nation in points allowed at just 16.3 points per game and their passing defense has been the standout allowing just 166 yards per game to rank 22nd nationally.

The Florida State Seminoles come into this rivalry game with a disappointing 1-2 overall record and 0-2-1 against the spread. The Noles are coming off a 26-19 win at Wake Forest as a -7 point favorite on September 30th.

The Noles had expectations of winning the ACC and challenging for the National Championship this season but that all came crashing to a halt when they lose quarterback Deondre Francois for the season with a knee injury in their 24-7 loss to Alabama in their opening game. The Noles won’t be playing for the National Title but head coach Jimbo Fisher is a good coach and should have the Noles playing hard for the rest of the season. This is a proud football program with a rich history.

The Noles are not very impressive when you look at their stats on both sides of the ball. The offense ranks 114th in the nation in scoring at just 18 points per game and the defense is a mediocre 53rd in the nation in points allowed at 23.3 points per game. The problem for the offense is they can’t run the ball as they rank 114th in the nation at 104 yards rushing per game. Defensively, their problem is their secondary as they rank 105th in the nation in passing yards allowed per game at 255.
