2017 Week 4 College Football Picks – UCLA @ Stanford Odds & Free Pick 9/23/17

The UCLA Bruins enter this game with a 2-1 overall record and 1-2 against the spread. The Bruins dropped their first game last Saturday as they lost 48-45 at Memphis as a -2.5 point favorite.

The Bruins offense is arguably the best in the nation this season and the stats certainly prove that out so far. The Bruins have posted total yardage totals of 554 vs Texas A&M, 505 versus Hawaii and 633 versus Memphis. Sophomore quarterback Josh Rosen has been incredible thru three games as he has a 169.8 quarterback rating with 1283 passing yards, 13 touchdowns and only 2 interceptions. Rosen is looking like he could go 1st overall in the NFL Draft the way he is playing.

The Bruins defense has been terrible so far this season. The defense was the reason for the loss last week at Memphis as they gave up 560 total yards and couldn’t stop a nose bleed. They also were terrible against Hawaii giving up 515 yards and against Texas A&M allowing 471 yards.

The Stanford Cardinal enter tonight’s game with a 1-2 overall record and 1-2 against the spread. The Cardinal have lost their last two games including last week’s game at San Diego State by a 20-17 score as a -8.5 point favorite.

The Cardinal offense has been awful the last two weeks and cannot move the ball. The offense sputtered to just 238 total yards at San Diego State last week and 342 total yards at USC the week before. The offense was terrible last season finishing 103rd in the nation in total yardage and they appear to be picking up where they left off this year.

Stanford has been known to have a dominant defense the past handful of seasons and this year’s unit is very good. The defense allowed a whopping 623 total yards in it’s 42-24 loss at USC two weeks ago but played better last week giving up 358 at San Diego State. The defense is not as dominant as it was last season but the USC game appears to be an outlier and not a true representation of how good they are.

Stanford has owned the series with UCLA recently and is 9-1 straight up and 8-2 against the spread in the last 10 meetings.
