The Notre Dame Fighting Irish come into this week 4 game with an overall record of 2-1 and 2-1 against the spread. Notre Dame is coming in off a dominant 49-20 win at Boston College last Saturday as a -14 point favorite.

Notre Dame has been dominant offensively in their two wins this season. The Fighting Irish racked up 611 total yards last week against BC and also had 606 total yards in their 49-16 season opening win against Temple. However, the Fighting Irish struggled against the best defense they played so far as they totaled just 265 yards in a 20-19 home loss to Georgia on September 9th. Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly hasn’t been pleased with his quarterback, sophomore Brandon Wimbush, who has passed for just 490 yards and 2 touchdowns along with 2 interceptions.

On the defensive side of the ball Notre Dame has been very good thru it’s first three games. It has limited Temple to 330 yards, Georgia to 326 yards and BC to 400 yards. The Fighting Irish returned 7 starters on defense from last season’s mediocre 62nd ranked national unit but it looks like they have improved and are much better so far this season.

The Michigan State Spartans enter this Saturday night showdown unbeaten so far at 2-0 and 2-0 against the spread. The Spartans had last week off and last played on September 9th when they beat Western Michigan 28-14 at home as a -7 point favorite.

The Spartans were a terrible 3-9 overall last season and big reason why was their terrible offense. The unit ranked 104th in total offense last season and have looked much improved thru two games this season. The Spartans put up 35 points in their opener while racking up 465 total yards against Bowling Green and then posted 457 total yards and 28 points against Western Michigan. Sophomore quarterback Brian Lewerke has played well as he’s thrown for 411 yards and 4 touchdowns against just 1 interception thru two games.

Michigan State has been dominant on defense thru two games. The Spartans have held Bowling Green to just 10 points and 212 total yards and Western Michigan to 14 points and 195 total yards. The Spartans finished 32nd in the nation last season in total yardage allowed on defense and they look to possibly be better this season.
