Odds to Win the 2016 MAC Football Championship and MAC East/West Division Predictions
MAC East Division Prediction
1. Bowling Green Falcons(+645 odds to win MAC) – The Bowling Green Falcons are coming off of another fabulous season in which they went 10-4 overall including 7-1 in the MAC to win the MAC East Division. The Falcons went on to defeat No Illinois 34-14 for the MAC Championship and are an amazing 17-0 in their last 17 games against MAC East Division foes. Bowling Green will have a new head coach in Mike Jinks this season and he will have only 10 returning starters to work with in the Falcons’ quest to repeat as MAC Champs. Jinks is a Texas native and comes to Bowling Green from Texas Tech where he is used to running a high octane offense that Bowling Green fans and players are used to running as well. Bowling Green finished 4th nationally in total offense and 6th in scoring offense at 42.2 ppg last year but have only 4 starters returning on offense. Senior quarterback James Knapke takes over as the starting quarterback this season and he showed he could handle the job nicely back in 2014 when he made 13 starts for the injured Matt Johnson. Knapke tossed for 3173 yards and 15 touchdowns that season and should be able to keep the Falcons amongst the best offenses in the MAC again this season. On the defensive side of the ball the Falcons have 6 returning starters from a unit that finished 86th nationally in total defense last season. The defense will have to improve a lot to compensate for a less explosive Bowling Green offense this year but we expect them to with a more veteran unit led by All-MAC junior middle linebacker Austin Valdez. 2016 Projection 8-4, 6-2 MAC

MAC West Division Prediction
1. Western Michigan Broncos(+295 odds to win MAC) – 2016 Projection 10-3, 7-1 MAC Big things are expected from the Western Michigan Broncos football team this season and with good reason. The Broncos return 13 starters including 8 from an offense that was 2nd in the MAC last season. Western Michigan won their first bowl game in school history last season with a 45-31 win over Middle Tennessee St in the Bahamas Bowl and this year they have a great opportunity to win the school’s first conference title since 1988 and win double digit games for the first time ever in school history. The offense should be explosive again led by senior quarterback Zach Terrell who threw for 3526 yards and 29 touchdowns last season. Terrell will have the nation’s active leading player in receiving yards to throw too as senior wideout Corey Davis returns after catching 90 balls for 1436 yards and 12 touchdowns last season. The running game should be potent again as well with sophomore tailback Jamauri Bogan looking to improve upon his solid freshman year stats(162 rushes, 1051 yards, 16 TDs). The Broncos defense wasn’t that good last year as they finished just 82nd nationally in total defense and could be their downfall this season. The defense only returns 5 starters and will be average at best in our opinion but it won’t matter most weeks due to the explosiveness of the Broncos offense. 2016 Projection 9-4, 6-2 MAC

Bowling Green Falcons vs Western Michigan Broncos – These two teams don’t match up this regular season but did last season when Bowling Green got the upper hand with a 41-27 win at Western Michigan. We look for the Broncos to turn the tables in this MAC Title Game and win their first conference title since 1988 as their offense should absolutely feast on a mediocre Bowling Green defense and we don’t see this year’s Falcons offense being able to match point for point.
