Louisville Cardinals -38.5 over Charlotte 49ers – This matchup has all the makings of an absolute woodshed beating by a power 5 conference team in Louisville against a woeful mid-major from Conference USA in Charlotte. Head coach Bobby Petrino has 16 starters returning from a solid 8-5 team last year and should have the Cardinals amongst the best in the ACC and in the Top 25 all season. Louisville should get a lot of improvement from sophomore quarterback Lamar Jackson this season and the defense should make a considerable jump from a unit that finished 39th nationally last season. Charlotte, on the other hand, also returns 16 starters but that isn’t a great thing when you conisider those players helped lead them to a 2-10 season last year including embarrassing 73-14 and 58-10 losses to Middle Tennessee and Kentucky. We look for Louisville to roll in this game and win by 7 touchdowns at least.

Rutgers Scarlet Knight @ Washington Huskies UNDER 55.5 This matchup appears to be a mismatch on paper with Washington being a -26 point favorite currently after opening up as a -22 point favorite. However, what we like most in this game is the total as we love the UNDER 55 points. Head coach Chris Peterson has his best team so far in his 3rd season as the Huskies head coach and he has 8 starters returning on a defense that finished 13th nationally in scoring defense as they gave up just 18.8 points per game. Washington’s defense should absolutely shut down a mediocre Rutgers offense that struggled last year against elite defenses and only averaged 27.1 points per game to finish 78th nationally in scoring offense. Washington’s offense is good but not quite good enough in our opinion to send this game over themselves by blowing out Rutgers by at least 6 touchdowns because it would take that to get this game over.
LSU Tigers -9 over Wisconsin Badgers – The LSU Tigers could arguably be the best and most talented team in college football this season. Head coach Les Miles has 8 starters returning offensively and 10 starters defensively from a team that went 9-3 overall last season including 5-3 in the SEC. Miles will have the best running back in college football and a Heisman Trophy favorite in junior leonard Fournette who rushed for 2,165 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. Wisconsin will have to play lights out to keep this game close in their own backyard but away from campus in Green Bay, WI. The Badgers only return 11 starters from last year’s 10-3 team and will have to break in a new quarterback in senior Bart Houston who only passed for 281 yards and 3 touchdowns last season. We don’t see this game staying competive for long as LSU is simply too talented and too fast for the Badgers to keep up with for 60 minutes. Lay the points and take LSU -9.
