2015 College Football Picks & Predictions – SEC Football Free Picks Week 3
Saturday, September 19th, 2015
Auburn Tigers +7 over LSU Tigers – The so-called experts in the media nationally have been acting like Auburn is a fraud team and is overrated all week since they barely escaped with a 27-20 home win over Jacksonville State last Saturday as a -39 point favorite. Please. Auburn played a bad game last week and should have lost but let’s not act like that’s a sign of things to come. Frankly, it will be a blessing in disguise for head coach Gus Malzhan as his team got a dose of reality that they must bring an A+ effort every week of it wants to win the SEC and compete for a national title. LSU has won 6 of the last 8 meetings in this matchup but were blown out 41-7 at Auburn last year. LSU has the edge at home but this game will be tight throughout and the 7 point spread is way out of line. Take the points.
Georgia Bulldogs -17 over South Carolina Gamecocks – This game has all the makings of a woodshed burial as Georgia is healthy and clearly the vastly superior team talent-wise. Head coach Steve Spurrier’s Gamecocks will be without starting sophomore quarterback Connor Mitch as he is out after suffering a shoulder injury and hip bruise last Saturday in a 26-22 loss at Kentucky. Spurrier will rely on former walk-on Perry Orth at quarterback and Georgia’s elite defense should shut him and South Carolina’s offense down. South Carolina won last year’s meeting 38-35 at home and has won 4 of the last 5 matchups but they are walking into a lion’s den on Saturday in Athens. The Bulldogs should and will roll big. Lay the points.
Alabama Crimson Tide -7 over Ole Miss Rebels – Can you say revenge? Ole Miss beat the Crimson Tide last year in Oxford with a 23-17 win that gave Ole Miss National Championship hopes before they faltered down the stretch. Alabama still ended up winning the SEC and playing in the College Football Playoff but you know head coach Nick Saban and company have had this game circled on their calendar ever since the schedule came out for this season. Ole Miss’ offense has been unstoppable in rolling against Fresno St 73-21 and Tenn-Martin 76-3 in the first two weeks but now they get a true test going up against a Bama defense that held two very good offenses in Middle Tenn St and Wisconsin to under 300 total yards apiece. Look for Bama’s defense to be the story of this game and Bama should win by double digits at home.
