2015 College Football Picks & Predictions – Week 5 Odds & Free College Football Picks
Saturday, October 3rd, 2015
Massachusetts -3 over Florida International – Head coach Mark Whipple’s Umass Minutemen are 0-3 on the season so far but have played a tough schedule as they’ve lost 48-14 at Colorado, 25-23 at home versus Temple and 62-27 at Notre Dame. However, they have proven they can pass the ball as they’ve passed for 393 against Temple and 302 against Notre Dame and should be able to move the ball thru the air against a Florida International team as their 8th rated passing offense goes up against FIU’s 61st ranked passing defense. FIU comes in 2-2 overall but are playing their 4th road game in the last 5 weeks. Look for a hungry UMass team to get into the win column at home on Saturday and show why they were a popular pick to contend for the MAC East Division title this season.
West Virginia +7 over Oklahoma – This is a fantastic matchup in the Big 12 as both teams enter 3-0 and looking to make another statement nationally and in the conference Saturday in Norman, OK. West Virginia has been impressive in putting up 40 plus points each game so far and outscoring it’s opponents 130-23. Meanwhile, Oklahoma has outscored it’s opponents 124-65 and is coming off of a 52-38 win over Tulsa in which they put up 773 yards of total offense. Both teams can score in bunches but West Virginia’s defense is ranked 1st nationally and we don’t feel that is a fluke despite their relatively soft schedule so far as ther returned 9 starters defensively from last season and are experienced playing together. We like West Virginia getting +7 points on Saturday as they have lost to Oklahoma the last 3 years and will be extra motivated to break through and get revenge on Saturday in Oklahoma’s backyard.
Ohio State -21 over Indiana – Both Ohio State and Indiana enter this game at 4-0 overall but Indiana enters more than happy with their performance so far this season while the Buckeyes are less than thrilled. Ohio State is 0-3 against the spread the last 3 weeks and has not looked like the best team in the nation after lackluster wins over Western Michigan 38-12, Northern Illinois 20-13 and Hawaii 38-0. Those scores may look impressive but Ohio State has by far the most talented offense in the nation and should be putting up 50 to 60 points each week against the teams it just beat and against Indiana this week. If Ohio State comes to play and plays motivated on Saturday then they should have no problem putting up 50 plus points against a weak Indiana defense and roll to a win and cover against the spread. We feel they will finally play up to their potential this week and crush an Indiana team that almost beat them at home the last time they played in Indiana back in 2012 when Ohio State escaped with a 52-49 win. Ohio State will come to play this Saturday and dominate.
