Head coach Mark Dantonio has his Michigan State Spartans entering this week at 1-0 overall after winning in week 1 at Western Michigan 37-24. The Spartans rolled up 452 total yards of offense in their opening win on the road at Western Michigan but surprisingly allowed 383 total yards defensively. The Spartans offense put up a lot of points but did not get a stellar performance out of senior quarterback Connor Cook who completed just 15 of 31 passes versus the Broncos. Cook is much better than what he showed last week and should bounce back with a strong game this week at home against the Ducks.

The Oregon Ducks also enter this week’s showdown against the Spartans at 1-0 overall as head coach Mark Helfrich’s squad outscored Eastern Washington 61-42 last week. The Ducks offense was humming like it usually is as it rolled up a whopping 731 yards of total offense. The bad news for the Ducks last week was the offense needed to be that dominant as the defense was a big time disappointment allowing Eastern Washington to put up 549 total yards offensively of their own.

The Spartans and Ducks will be playing for the 2nd straight season as Oregon got the best of Michigan State last year in Eugene, Oregon by a final score of 46-27. The Spartans were actually in control of that game as they led 27-18 with 20 minutes remaining but were outscored 28-0 over the final 20 minutes. Oregon outgained Michigan State 491 to 466 in last year’s matchup and covered the -14 points spread with the final score going way over the over/under line of 57 points.

Who do we like Saturday? Well, we absolutely love Michigan State to cover the -3.5 points spread at home in a revenge spot.
