2015-College-Football-Picks-and-Predictions2015 College Football Heisman Trophy Predictions – Heisman Rankings Stock Report Week 8: Week 8 The 2015 college football season is in full swing, and while teams are jockeying for position in their respective conferences, a few players are starting to emerge from the pack as the early frontrunners for the Heisman Trophy. Of course, other players in the mix can still leap to the top of the pack at any point with a big performance in a big game, but in the meantime, here is a closer look at the players that bolstered their Heisman resumes and those that slipped after Week 7.

2015 College Football Heisman Trophy Predictions – Heisman Rankings Stock Report Week 8

Stock Up

Facing a tough test from a very determined Florida team, the LSU Tigers rode Leonard Fournette to another big victory over a top 10 opponent. He didn’t have any big runs, but he carried the ball 31 times for 180 yards and two scores, putting the offense on his back from start to finish. Fournette was already among the frontrunners for the Heisman, and he certainly didn’t do anything to change that in Week 7.

With RB Aaron Green struggling, TCU QB Trevone Boykin stepped up to guide the Horned Frogs to a comfortable road win over Iowa State. He completed 27 of his 32 pass attempts for 436 yards and four touchdowns and added 74 rushing yards and another score. Boykin continues to be one of the most dynamic dual-threat weapons in the country, and he continues to look like a safe bet to among the Heisman finalists.

He is often overlooked because Baylor’s offensive system is so quarterback friendly, but is becoming clear that Seth Russell may have the tools to follow in the footsteps of Robert Griffin III and win the Heisman. Russell absolutely torched West Virginia in Week 7, throwing for 380 yards and five scores and running for 160 yards and another touchdown. With some big conference games looming, Russell has a chance to make a run.

The Alabama Crimson Tide wanted to control the pace against the high-powered offense of Texas A&M, so they turned to RB Derrick Henry. The bruising back carried the ball 32 times for 236 yards and two scores, and Alabama controlled the game from start to finish for a big road win over a top 10 team.

In terms of importance, few players have been as valuable to their team as Florida State RB Dalvin Cook. In a Week 7 win over Louisville, Cook had 22 carries for 163 yards and two scores and hauled in four passes for 60 yards. The Seminoles still haven’t lost, and if Cook comes up big the rest of the way, he could continue to force his way into the Heisman conversation.

He wasn’t really on the radar prior to Week 7, but Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey certainly made some noise in a big game against UCLA Thursday night. He finished with 243 yards and four scores on 24 carries and added a 96-yard kickoff return that set up another score. Stanford is gaining steam, and McCaffrey has four straight 100-yard games and has three straight 150-yard games.

Stock Down

He needed a big game on a big stage against Alabama to make a real Heisman push, but Texas A&M QB Kyle Allen couldn’t capitalize. In fact, he struggled against the Crimson Tide defense, completing just 20 of his 40 pass attempts and tossing three interceptions. After this performance, Allen isn’t going to be competing for the Heisman this year.

His stock was already falling fast, and after two more interceptions in another loss, USC QB Cody Kessler can forget about hoisting the Heisman Trophy this year. After tossing 10 touchdowns and zero interceptions over the first three games, Kessler has tossed five interceptions over the last three games, failing to complete 60 percent of his passes in two of them.
