2013 College Football Rankings: Preseason Top 25 from NSAwins.com – Bama the Best

NCAA-College-Football-Picks-Odds-and-Predictions2013 College Football Rankings: Preseason Top 25 from NSAwins.com – Bama the Best: The start of the 2013-14 college football season is days away, and while a lot can happen between now and January’s BCS title game to determine the top teams in the country, that doesn’t change the fact that there are certain teams that are better equipped to navigate the regular season than others. With that in mind, here is one last look at the top 25 teams in the country heading into the upcoming college football season.

1.      Alabama Crimson Tide: Quarterback A.J. McCarron leads what might be Alabama’s best offense in the Nick Saban era, and the two-time defending champs always get it done on defense.

2.      Ohio State Buckeyes: Urban Meyer has stockpiled more than enough talent to steamroll the Big Ten for a second year in a row, only this time, the Buckeyes are eligible to play in the postseason

3.      Oregon Ducks: Chip Kelly may be gone, but the former coach left behind an offense loaded with playmakers and a special secondary. The Ducks aren’t going to stop overpowering opponents with their offense this year.

4.      Georgia Bulldogs: The 2013 Bulldogs are every bit as talented as the team that came within one play of knocking off Alabama in the SEC title game and playing for a national title last season.

5.      Stanford Cardinal: Stanford will flat out beat teams up on the trenches on both sides of the ball, and the defense is as good as it gets. If Kevin Hogan is legit under center so are Stanford’s title hopes.

6.      Texas A&M Aggies: With the Heisman Trophy winner running the show, the Aggies’ offense could be even better than last year’s nearly unstoppable unit.

7.      Louisville Cardinals: Teddy Bridgewater might be the best QB in the country, and a trio of SEC transfers adds firepower to a team that trounced Florida in the Sugar Bowl last year.

8.      LSU Tigers: Their ground game is as nasty as they come, but quarterback Zach Mettenberger has to deliver while the Tigers’ talented but young defense develops.

9.      Clemson Tigers: With quarterback Tajh Boyd running the show, the Tigers are going to be fun to watch on offense. The question is whether the defense can play well enough to turn Clemson into a national title contender instead of just an ACC contender.

10.  South Carolina Gamecocks: As unstoppable as Jadeveon Clowney is and as stingy as the defense is, South Carolina will only go as far as its quarterback play allows.

11.  Florida State Seminoles: Don’t sleep on the Seminoles. Quarterback Jameis Winston has the chance to be special, and FSU’s offensive line and defense already are.

12.  Oklahoma Sooners: Breaking in a new QB will be made easier thanks to a great offensive line and talented group of skill position players.

13.  Oklahoma State Cowboys: You know Mike Gundy’s team is going to put up plenty of points, but the defense might allow even more.

14.  Florida Gators: Can an elite defense and explosive special teams unit carry a lackluster offense for the second year in a row.

15.  TCU Horned Frogs: If the return of quarterback Casey Pachall can provide a boost to the offense, TCU’s already has a defense that can make some noise.

16.  Michigan State Spartans: The Spartans’ defense is stacked, and after losing a ton of close games in 2012, a Rose Bowl appearance isn’t out of reach this season.

17.  Texas Longhorns: It is now or never for Mack Brown’s team. The Longhorns return just about everyone on both sides of the ball and have a clear starter under center for the first time in a while.

18.  Boise State Broncos: Boise State won 11 games in what was considered a rebuilding year last season. The Broncos will try to crash the BCS party again in 2013.

19.  Notre Dame Fighting Irish: Losing quarterback Everett Golson was a blow, and it will put even more pressure on the Notre Dame defense to carry the load.

20.  Michigan Wolverines: The long-term health of the program is good, but transitioning from the Denard Robinson era to a more traditional offense won’t be without some bumps in the road.

21.  USC Trojans: Replacing a quarterback of Matt Barkley’s caliber is never fun, but the Trojans have a very talented defense and the country’s best receiver in Marqise Lee. They should also have a major chip on their shoulder.

22.  UCLA Bruins: Quarterback Brett Hundley is a playmaker on offense, and outside linebacker Anthony Barr is the same for the defense. On the flip side, the Bruins have question marks just about everywhere else.

23.  Northern Illinois Huskies: One-man wrecking crew Jordan Lynch is back under center so the Huskies’ surprising BCS run in 2012 might not be a one-time thing.

24.  Miami Hurricanes: Running back Duke Johnson and quarterback Stephen Morris form the core of a potent offense, but Miami’s defense is shockingly low on talent.

25.  Fresno State Bulldogs: With Derek Carr leading a high-powered offense, the Bulldogs can score with any team in the country.
