Will the clock strike midnight on Cinderella tonight or will the #12 seeded Cornell Big Red(29-4) shock the nation once again by winning it’s 30th and biggest game of their magical season against #1 seed Kentucky(34-2) in the East Regional semifinals tonight(tip off at 9:57 PM EST on CBS)? Vegas oddsmakers seem to think Cornell has little chance to win the game outright, as the Big Red have been installed a +8.5 point underdog against Kentucky’s Big Blue. However, make no mistake, Cornell has earned it’s way into the Sweet 16 by handily beating #5 seed Temple and #4 seed Wisconsin in the first two rounds of the Big Dance. The Big Red showed it belonged on the same court with the big boys over and over again this season, including almost beating #1 ranked Kansas on the road before ultimately losing 71-66 to the Jayhawks. With Kansas having been ousted in this year’s tournament last weekend by Northern Iowa, it’s now John Calipari’s Kentucky Wildcats that many feel are the frontrunner to cut down the nets in Indianapolis on April 5th. Calipari’s Wildcats have looked dominant in the 1st two rounds, as they crushed #16 seed East Tenn St 100-71 and #9 seed Wake Forest 90-60 to earn their way to Syracuse’s Carrier Dome for tonight’s Eastern Regional semifinal matchup. The pointspread for this matchup is Kentucky favored by -8.5 points with the total on the game set at 146.5..
