Oregon Ducks(27-4, 16-2 in PAC 12) – Head coach Dana Altman led his Oregon Ducks to a tie for the regular season PAC 12 title and earned the #1 overall seed in the PAC 12 Tournament. The Ducks were a popular pick to win the PAC 12 and contend for the national championship by prognosticators before the season began and they did a decent job of living up to the hype in the regular season. Oregon is the 8th rated team in today’s RPI index but some legitimate questions remain to just how good they truly are after playing in a less than stellar PAC 12 conference and playing a weak non-conference schedule this season. Oregon lacks any significant non-conference wins of note on their resume with their four best wins of the year coming against UCLA, USC, Arizona and UCLA. The best team they played out of the PAC was Baylor and they were stomped 66-49 back on November 15th.
UCLA Bruins(28-3 overall, 15-3 in PAC 12) – The UCLA Bruins look to get back to their glory days with a legit run at the National Championship this season behind a talented roster led by potential top pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, freshman guard Lonzo Ball. Head coach Steve Alford has is best team so far in his 4th season in Westwood as Bruins coach and he has a great opportunity this week to coach UCLA to the PAC 12 Tournament title and likely #2 or #3 seed in the NCAA Tournament. UCLA owns high quality wins this season against Kentucky, Michigan, Oregon, USC and Arizona. UCLA has one of the most well balanced rosters in the nation with six players averaging double figures points per game led by senior Bryce Alford(16.5 ppg, 2.5 reb, 2.6 ast).
2017 PAC 12 Tournament Prediction: UCLA to win UCLA is our choice to win the 2017 PAC 12 Tournament and win the school’s record-tying 5th PAC 12 Tournament Title to tie Arizona. UCLA last won the tournament in 2014 and we just love their balance and confidence and think that will translate well into the PAC 12 Tournament and into the NCAA Tournament.
