2011 Good Sam Club 500 Odds, Predictions, Betting Tips and Free Picks – Favorites and Lines to Win Good Sam Club 500 at at Talladega Superspeedway: NASCAR betting odds to win the 2011 Good Sam Club 500 this Sunday, October 23rd at Talladega Superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama have been posted at all the major Las Vegas and best online sportsbooks with Kevin Harvick and Dale Earnhardt Jr having been installed as the +1000 favorites to win the 2011 Good Sam Club 500.
Whenever the series heads to Talladega Superspeedway, the unpredictability that comes with restrictor-plate racing has to have bettors thinking about cashing in on a big upset. However, a big reason for the track’s surprising winners is the big wrecks that take out as many as a dozen cars at the same time. On the heels of the tragic death of former IndyCar Series champ and two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dan Wheldon last Sunday, let’s just hope that any upset victory that might occur doesn’t come at the expense of the safety of anyone behind the wheel.
Last fall, Clint Bowyer finally broke through with a restrictor-plate win after several close calls. After the dominant car of Kyle Busch was taken out of the race in a wreck, Bowyer and pole-sitter Juan Pablo Montoya emerged as the cars to beat. Bowyer was able to hold the top spot when it mattered most, stopping a late charge from his teammate Kevin Harvick to seal the win.
Earlier this year, Bowyer had his sights set on back-to-back wins at the track. He led a race-high 38 laps and was battling for the top spot in the closing laps. However, he was ultimately edged at the line by Jimmie Johnson in photo finish. Johnson capped a strong showing from Hendrick Motorsports, and the organization placed three cars in the top four spots and four cars in the top eight.
The Favorites – 2011 Good Sam Club 500 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks
He has a rhythm going at Talladega right now, and Kevin Harvick will look to ride the wave of momentum to a possible series title. He has finished in the top five in his last three starts at the track, picking up a win and compiling a 2.7 average finish during the stretch. Harvick is the current top dog when it comes to plate racing, and he should show why Sunday.
It’s safe to say based on the recent performances of the Harvick and Clint Bowyer that Richard Childress Racing has its act together when it comes to the superspeedways. He has three straight top-10 finishes at Talladega, including finishes of first and second in his last two starts. Bowyer will try to defend victory in the fall event at the track this weekend as well as add to a resume that includes seven top-12 finishes in his last eight Talladega starts.
He finished fourth at Talladega earlier this year, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. has always been one of the best at the track. He is a five-time winner, and at one point, Junior reeled of an incredible seven straight finishes of first or second at Talladega. He is always a serious threat to win whenever the series visits Talladega.
The Dark Horses – 2011 Good Sam Club 500 Lines, Preview and Expert Picks
Although Kurt Buschhas never won at Talladega, he has been one of the most consistent drivers at the track for the last decade. His 14.5 average finish is the second-best mark among drivers that have started every race at the track since 2001. Factor in his strong showings at the plate tracks in 2011, and a Talladega win is a real possibility.
They are definitely the checkers or wreckers options this weekend, but Earnhardt Ganassi Racing teammates Jamie McMurray and Juan Pablo Montoya have shown in the past the can make some noise at Talladega. Montoya has finished third in two of his last three starts at the track, while McMurray has a win and a second-place effort in his last four starts. Neither driver has enjoyed a successful season, but both are capable of delivering a win this weekend.
Sleepers Specials – 2011 Good Sam Club 500 Vegas Odds, Expert Predictions and Free Picks
While Talladega is normally hard on young drivers, Joey Logano has enjoyed tons of success at the track in his brief career. In five starts, he has four top-10 finishes, including two top-five runs. Logano has yet to win at Talladega, but as much time a she spends near the front, it should only be a matter of time before he ends up in Victory Lane.
For single car operation, Regan Smith and the Furniture Row Racing team have certainly built some strong plate track cars in 2011. In addition to compiling the top driver rating at Daytona in February, Smith finished in the top 15 at Talladega earlier in the year. It was his second straight top-15 finish at the track, and another strong run could be in the works this weekend.
Big Names to Avoid – 2011 Good Sam Club 500 Betting Odds, Predictions and Free NASCAR Picks
He has momentum on his side, but Matt Kenseth has found nothing but trouble at Talladega recently. He has finished outside the top 15 in his last eight starts at the track, finishing 24th or worse six times. A win will likely be the furthest thing from Kenseth’s mind this weekend as he looks to stay out of trouble and keep his title hopes alive.
Despite finishing second on two occasions at Talladega, Kasey Kahne has had a forgettable career at the track. He has finished outside the top 10 in his other 13 starts, compiling a 22.9 average finish. Kahne wrecked in the spring event this year, saddling him with his seventh career finish outside the top 25 at Talladega.
