2011 Kroger 200 Odds, Predictions, Betting Tips and Free Picks – Favorites and Lines to Win the Kroger 200: NASCAR betting odds to win the 2011 Kroger 200 this Saturday, July 30th at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana have been posted at all the major Las Vegas and best online sportsbooks and the online bookies with Carl Edwards having been installed as the +140 favorite to win the 2011 Kroger 200.
For the second week in row, only two Cup Series drivers will be double dipping in the Nationwide Series. Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski will make the short trip to the short track that is Lucas Oil Raceway, while the rest of the big names will stay at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in preparation for Sunday’s Brickyard 400. As a result, the Nationwide regulars have a golden opportunity to get to a rare victory. Granted, knocking off Edwards and Keselowski won’t be a walk in the park, but beating two Cup drivers is a lot easier than beating upwards of a dozen as they face some weeks.
Several big names were in the field last season, and Kyle Busch was the best of the bunch. He led 144 of the 201 laps on his way to his third career win at the tiny oval. His stiffest competition for most of the night came from rookie Trevor Bayne – who led 55 laps on the night. However, it was Carl Edwards that tried and ultimately failed to run down Busch in the closing laps.
The Favorites – 2011 Kroger 200 Odds, Predictions and Free Picks
With Kyle Busch not on the entry list, last year’s runner-up Carl Edwards becomes the favorite this weekend. After all, he did win at Lucas Oil Raceway in 2009 prior to his second-place run last season. Edwards has five wins in the Nationwide Series in 2011, and the rest of this weekend’s field only has four. It is his race to lose.
Although Brad Keselowski has yet to win at Lucas Oil Raceway, there is no doubt he is one of the top-two drivers in this weekend’s field. He has finished in the top 10 in three of his four starts at the track, finishing as high as fourth. With Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick and other big names sitting this one out, Keselowski should have a career night and maybe even get to Victory Lane.
After taking over the top spot in the standings last weekend, Reed Sorenson will look to pad his lead this Saturday night. He has a 5.8 average finish in four career starts at the track, and he has finished in the top five in his last three starts. Sorenson has been one of the best drivers at Lucas Oil Raceway regardless of who has been in the field. With several big names out of the mix, he has a real shot at the win.
The Dark Horses – 2011 Kroger 200 Lines, Preview and Expert Picks
In two starts at Lucas Oil Raceway, Trevor Bayne has finished seventh and fourth. Last season, he led 55 laps and was the only driver that could hang with eventual winner Kyle Busch for most of the night. With two strong starts under his belt already, Bayne could take the next step this weekend and get his first Nationwide win of 2011.
He is just five points out of first, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will look to take over the top spot with a strong showing this weekend. He finished 11th in his track debut last season, but there is no doubt he is a much improved driver in 2011. Stenhouse Jr. already has one win this year, and he leads all drivers with 15 top-10 finishes. He should be in the mix.
Sleepers Specials – 2011 Kroger 200 Vegas Odds, Expert Predictions and Free Picks
Although he hasn’t quite lived up to expectations, Aric Almirola hasn’t been terrible this season either. He is sitting fifth in points, and Lucas Oil Raceway has been one of his better tracks. Almirola has finished in the top 15 in his last three starts at the track, including a career-best third-place finish last season. It would be an upset, but a win for Almirola isn’t out of the question.
Steve Wallace has yet to put it all together, and he may never realize his full potential. That being said, he has run well at Lucas Oil Raceway throughout his career. Wallace has finished in the top 10 in his last three starts at the track, including a fifth-place effort. It would certainly be fitting if the son of Rusty Wallace won his first Nationwide race at a short track.
Big Names to Avoid – 2011 Kroger 200 Betting Odds, Predictions and Free NASCAR Picks
In limited action, Austin Dillon has put himself on the fast track to stardom in NASCAR. However, Lucas Oil Raceway is a demanding track that could cause problems for an inexperienced driver. Dillon finished 18th in his only start at the track, and while he will likely improve, he probably isn’t ready to contend for a win just yet.
When Kyle Busch isn’t driving the No. 18 Toyota, it doesn’t seem to get to Victory Lane. Michael McDowell has the honor of piloting the Joe Gibbs Racing machine this weekend in place of Busch, but the trend is likely to continue. McDowell should be able to run in the top 10, but winning at the Nationwide level isn’t as easy as Busch makes it look.
