2011 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 – Post-Practice Predictions, Picks, Tips and Top 5 Drivers

2011 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400 Post-Practice Predictions, Picks, Tips and Preview – Favorites and Sleepers to Win 2011 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400: When it comes to practice times, Michigan is actually one of the more predictable tracks on the schedule. Drivers that are fast in practice tend to run well on race day as well. This is a huge plus for bettors because having a short list of the top drivers in practice can be a sneak peak at which drivers will be fighting for the win Sunday.

2011 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400: Post-Practice Top 5

Kurt Busch: He had the sixth-fastest lap in the opening session, and he improved to fifth in Happy Hour. He also added the eighth-best 10-lap average speed on the final session. As a two-time Michigan winner, Busch has a history of success at the track. More importantly, Busch has had the dominant car in each of the last two races this season but has come up just short of a victory. He could cash in this Sunday.

Kevin Harvick: He won at Michigan last August, and Harvick will be trying to make it two in a row at the 2.0-mile track this weekend. He appears to have a car capable of doing just that after posting the third-fastest lap in the first practice and the third-best 10-lap average speed in Happy Hour. Expect Harvick to show up in crunch time the way he always does and make a run at the win.

David Ragan: Ragan made a statement early on Friday by topping the charts in the opening session. He followed it up by posting the sixth-fastest lap in Happy Hour and the fifth-best 10-lap average speed. This could be the week that Ragan scores his first career Cup victory.

Jimmie Johnson: Johnson came to life in Happy Hour, posting the fastest lap and the sixth-best 10-lap average speed. The downside is that Johnson has never won at Michigan in 18 starts, but he did lead the most laps in both of the 2009 events before running out of fuel with the lead on the final lap. He has a fast car this weekend, and the five-time champ could end his winless drought at MIS.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.: After posting the ninth-fastest lap in the first practice, Junior sailed to second on the charts in Happy Hour. Even during his rough seasons, MIS remained one of his better tracks. It was 107 races ago that Junior last won a Cup race, and that race was at Michigan in 2008. He could rekindle the magic this weekend and snap the drought.

2011 Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips 400: Post-Practice Top Sleeper

Trevor Bayne: After finally recovering from the after effects of an insect bite, Bayne is back in the Cup Series. He picked a good track to make his return, and he promptly posted the 10th-fastest lap in the opening session. Bayne is driving Roush Fenway Racing equipment this weekend, and Carl Edwards, Matt Kenseth and Greg Biffle have all driven the same equipment to Victory Lane twice at MIS. Bayne could pull another upset.
