2019 Drive for the Cure 250 Odds & Predictions – Favorites, Value Bets & Sleepers at the Charlotte Roval: The NASCAR XFINITY Series heads to the Charlotte Motor Speedway road course this weekend for the second race of the playoffs. Saturday’s Drive for the Cure 250 is also just the second XFINITY race at the track’s 2.28-mile road course, commonly referred to as the Roval because of how it includes sections of Charlotte’s traditional mile-and-a-half oval.
This year’s race will be longer, jumping from 55 laps in the inaugural event to 67 laps this weekend. However, the fact that it is a playoff race will likely play more of a factor because it means no Cup drivers are allowed to pull double duty. As a result, the premier road course drivers in the XFINITY Series should have a decided advantage on the rest of the field, and I think you can narrow down a small list of legitimate contenders to bet on for Saturday’s Drive for the Cure 250 at the Roval.

The Favorites
Austin Cindric
Cindric has been almost unstoppable at the road courses in 2019, winning at both Watkins Glen and Mid-Ohio and finishing second at Road America. He has now finished third or better in five of his last six road course starts, leading 13 laps and finishing third at the Roval last year. Cindric has made eight career road course starts overall, and he has led laps in seven of them. He is your best bet this weekend.
A.J. Allmendinger
He is back in the Kaulig Racing No. 10 machine this weekend for the final road course race of the year, and as a part-time driver, Allmendinger only has to focus on trying to win this weekend. In the three road races so far this season, he led 24 laps at crossed the line second at Watkins Glen, finished third at Mid-Ohio and led double-digit laps at Road America. In six career road course starts at the XFINITY level, Allmendinger has crossed the line third or better in five times, winning twice and leading double-digit laps five times. He will be a threat for the win.
Christopher Bell
Bell is overly modest about his ability as a road racer, but the results speal for themselves. This year alone, he has second-place finishes at Watkins Glen and Mid-Ohio, and he picked up the win at Road America. Bell now has a streak of four straight top-five finishes at road courses, and he has led laps in every race in that span, leading double-digit laps in the last two.
Value Bets
Chase Briscoe
Not only did Briscoe win the inaugural race at the Roval last season, but he led a race-high 33 laps in the process. He has actually never finished outside the top 15 in four road course starts at the XFINITY level, and since joining the No. 98 team, he has never finished worse than third in three attempts. Don’t rule out back-to-back Roval wins for Briscoe.
Justin Allgaier
His is a three-time winner at road courses at the XFINITY level, and he has been one of the steadiest performers since joining JR Motorsports. He has made 13 road course starts for the No. 7 team, and he has finished in the top 10 in 10 of them. In fact, Allgaier has six top 10s in the last seven road races, finishing third or better four times and winning twice.
Noah Gragson
Gragson won four road course races at the K&N level, and the success has continued in the XFINITY Series. The rookie has cracked the top 10 in all three of the road course races this season, picking up top-five finishes at Mid-Ohio and Road America. He should be within striking distance again this weekend.
Sleeper Special
Justin Haley
Never underestimate the value of a great teacher. Haley’s Kaulig Racing team has hired A.J. Allmendinger, one of the best road racers of this era, to drive a second entry for the road course events this season. His expertise and setup information seem to be rubbing of on Haley. He finished 14th at Watkins Glen in the first road course race of the year, and he followed that up with a ninth-place run a Mid-Ohio and a sixth-place run at Road America. If the upward trend continues, Haley could be a sleeper contender Saturday.
