2012 O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 Challenge Odds, Free Picks and Predictions – O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge 300 Favorites and Sleepers to Win at Texas Motor Speedway: After a week off, the Nationwide Series gets back to action at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. The 1.5-mile oval is one of the faster tracks on the schedule, and with multiple racing grooves to work with, nerve wracking side-by-side racing is a common site. In fact, the track is generally considered one of the more enjoyable tracks to race at by drivers, and not surprisingly, several big names are doing double duty this weekend.
Last fall, Carl Edwards was on cruise control most of the race. He led 157 of the 200 laps and was in control when a caution came out with less than 10 laps to go. On the final restart, Trevor Bayne got a huge run and pushed Denny Hamlin to the lead. Bayne then worked his way by Hamlin in the final laps and held on for his first career Nationwide Series win.
Earlier this year, Paul Menard and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. made thing s two-man show most of the night. Menard started from the pole and led a race-high 100 laps. However, he and the rest of the field were unable to keep up with Stenhouse once he got to the front, and Stenhouse ultimately cruised to the win.

The Favorites
If Kyle Busch is going to win a race this season, it will likely happen this weekend at Texas. After all, he has finished either first or second in seven of his last eight races. His run of success at the track includes a stretch from 2008 to 2010 when he won five straight races at Texas. Busch has skipped the last two races at the track, but he could return with a vengeance this weekend.
He is no stranger to finding Victory Lane at Texas, and Kevin Harvick has won four races at the track in his last 12 starts. He has remained strong at the track in recent years, finishing eighth or better in three straight starts and compiling a 6.3 average finish during the stretch. Harvick knows how to get to the front and how to seal the deal, and he could add a fifth win at Texas to his resume this weekend.
Although he has yet to win at Texas in the Nationwide Series, Denny Hamlin has been inching closer and closer. He has six top-10 finishes in his last seven starts at the track, and he has been even better recently. Hamlin has finished fourth or better in four of his last five starts at the track, including a second-place run last fall and a fourth-place effort earlier this year. It could be his time to break through this weekend.
The Dark Horses
After a commanding performance in a victory earlier this season, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will try for a season sweep this weekend. His victory was part of a stretch when he improved his finishing position in four straight races, and he has four straight finishes of 11th or better overall at Texas. Stenhouse has gotten better and better at the track, and his win in April could be the first of many.
While he has never won at Texas, Joey Logano shouldn’t be forgotten about this weekend. For one, he has four finishes of fourth or better in eight starts at the track, More importantly, Logano has won a series-leading eight races in 2012 and has done so in only 19 starts. He has been a threat to win nearly every time he has gotten behind the wheel in the Nationwide Series this year, and there is no reason to expect that to change Saturday.
Sleeper Special
Despite being a rookie, Austin Dillon has already proven himself a consistent contender for victories. He made his first-ever start at Texas earlier this season, and he promptly finished fifth. Throw in the fact that both of his wins in 2012 have come at 1.5-mile tracks, and the fast surface at Texas certainly isn’t going to intimidate him. Dillon has held his own and even beat the big names all year, and he isn’t going to stop with a few races to go.
Big Name to Avoid
He will be making a rare Nationwide start this weekend, but despite being a proven winner at the Cup level, Ryan Newman might not make much of an impact this weekend. In his two career starts at Texas in the Nationwide Series, he has failed to finish in the top 10. Expecting him to suddenly go from running outside the top 10 to competing for the win seems unlikely, especially with a loaded field to compete against.
